Hey!  Two pieces of totally cool news for you:

First, we’re celebrating our new website with a special deal on books in the catalog—FREE shipping for the month of August!  Yes, that’s right; we’ll ship any number of books to you absolutely free (well, you do have to pay for the books themselves), so go over there and fill up your shopping cart.  Be sure to check out Tales from the Vinegar Wasteland by Ray Fracalossy, which will arrive in the next few weeks and will be included on this great deal.

Second, we’re announcing a cover contest for All Encompassing Trip, a novel by Nicole Del Sesto set for late fall publication.  Although we can’t pay anyone, it’s all about exposure, and we want to help get some new artists noticed!

I am proud to announce that we received Deity by Vic Mudd in the Afterbirth office! We are so pleased to be offering Vic's first book. It's a great read, perfect for summer when you want something lighter and totally bizarre. I especially enjoy the part where God visits the jellyfish...and they have a few choice words for him. The "regular" earth family he joins are also a total hoot. It's available here or at the usual places (amazon, shocklines, etc). Since Vic is a Pacific Northwesterner, he did stop by the office and sign a few copies, so first come, first served! Happy summer solstice to all!

Bizarro Party Friday Night at World Horror!

Anyone in the San Francisco area, stop by the World Horror party suites this Friday night for the big Bizarro party! Carlton and Rose from Eraserhead have made 3 kinds of Bizarro beer (one with an Afterbirth label!), and I just put in a huge order for various other beer, wine, and such. We'll also have some extremely long sub sandwiches to share around, compliments of Jeremy Robert Johnson. You can meet authors like Jeremy, Carlton Mellick III, Gina Ranalli, Kevin Donihe, and perhaps Nicole Del Sesto and Vic Mudd. And, of course, a few of us editor-types. It'll be a blast!

Also, want to remind everyone to check out the latest issue of Bust Down the Door and Eat All the Chickens, edited by Bradley Sands. You'll find info on issue #4 at http://www.absurdistjournal.com/current.htm Afterbirth authors contributing are Vincent Sakowski, Ray Fracalossy, Jason Earls, and John Edward Lawson.

The Bizarro Starter Kit will also be released at World Horror, and includes Afterbirth authors Carlton Mellick III (well, we only borrowed him briefly), John Edward Lawson (ditto from Raw Dog Screaming Press), Gina Ranalli,, Bruce Taylor, and Vincent Sakowski. For $10 you get 10 authors bringing you novellas or short stories. The kit is put out by Bizarro Books, a cooperative venture of Afterbirth, Eraserhead, and Raw Dog Screaming Press.
